Yealink Software and Headsets: Choosing the Right Headset for 3CX and VoIP

Searching for Yealink software headset info usually means one of two things: you want the software that manages a Yealink headset (Yealink USB Connect), or you are choosing a Yealink headset to use with a softphone like 3CX. This guide covers both.

Yealink USB Connect: the headset software

Yealink USB Connect is Yealink’s free desktop application for managing its USB and Bluetooth headsets and speakerphones. Install it on the PC where the headset is plugged in and you can:

  • Update headset firmware (worth doing – call-control bugs are usually fixed here),
  • Adjust EQ, sidetone (how much of your own voice you hear), and mic volume,
  • Configure which softphone the headset’s answer/hang-up buttons control,
  • Manage Bluetooth pairing for BH-series headsets and their BT51 USB dongles.

Download it from Yealink’s official support site. For company-wide fleets, Yealink also offers a device management platform, which Tronic can manage for you as part of a Yealink deployment.

Which Yealink headset should you buy?

  • Yealink UH34 / UH36 / UH38 (wired USB): the workhorses. Reliable, no batteries, great for call centre agents and anyone at a fixed desk. Mono for awareness of the room, duo for noisy offices.
  • Yealink BH70 / BH72 / BH76 (Bluetooth): wireless freedom, active noise cancelling on the higher models, and a charging stand option. Ideal for managers and hybrid workers who roam.
  • Yealink WH-series (DECT wireless): longer range and rock-solid audio for reception and warehouse roles – DECT does not compete with busy office Wi-Fi. See also our cordless, DECT and Wi-Fi devices.

All of these are certified for the major UC platforms, and pair perfectly with Yealink desk phones – browse our Yealink handset range and the wider handsets and phones catalogue for current models and pricing.

Using a Yealink headset with 3CX

Yealink headsets are plug-and-play with the 3CX desktop and web apps: plug in the USB headset (or dongle), select it as the audio device in 3CX settings, and answer/end call buttons work out of the box on current firmware. Two tips from our support desk:

  1. Set the headset as the ringing device and the call device in the 3CX app so you hear calls ring even with the headset off your head.
  2. If call-control buttons stop working after an update, install Yealink USB Connect and update the headset firmware – that fixes the vast majority of cases. Anything trickier is covered in our 3CX app troubleshooting guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do Yealink headsets work without the software?

Yes – they are standard USB audio devices. The software is only needed for firmware updates and fine-tuning.

Can one Yealink headset connect to my PC and mobile at the same time?

The Bluetooth BH-series can hold two connections at once (for example, PC via the BT51 dongle plus your mobile), switching automatically to whichever rings.

Where can I buy Yealink headsets in Australia?

Right here – Tronic supplies and supports the full Yealink product range with local warranty. Ask us for pricing.
